Applicant Welcoming Committee

Dear Applicants,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Yale Welcoming Committee, and all of the Internal Medicine Residents. The Yale Welcoming Committee was formed to provide an opportunity for applicants to get to know the current Internal Medicine Traditional Residency Program Residents and the New Haven area during the interview season. The residents who compose the Welcoming Committee are readily available to answer your questions regarding everyday life as Yale Residents within and outside the Hospital walls. the following is a snippet of some topics that were addressed last year: resident schedules and rotations, the best restaurants in the city and the availability of dog walkers in the community.  So, as you can see, the range of topics of conversation is broad.  If the on-call committee member is unable to answer your question they will find someone who can.

As you progress through your interview season we hope you will consider us a resource in addition to the Chief Residents, the Program Director and Associate Program Directors.  Although we work closely with the administration during the interview season your questions and comments are confidential and the residents involved in this Committee do not participate in the applicant selection process.

We have an email forum to help answer your questions and connect you with residents in our program. Please feel free to email with any questions that come up during your interview season and Match process, or if you would simply like to meet more residents after your interview.  We always have someone on-call to answer emails, and are determined to get back to you within 24-48 hours.  We hope that this provides a meaningful way for you to learn more about what it is like to be a resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and about the culture of the Yale Internal Medicine Traditional Residency Program.

We wish you a wonderful interview season, and look forward to hearing from you soon!
